Hi, I’m Bao “Bobo” Hoang—an actor, therapist, and creative at heart.
I graduated from Dean College with a B.A. in Theatre and a concentration in Musical Theatre. Acting has been an important part of my life and taught me to appreciate the power of storytelling, curiosity, empathy, and human connection. I’m drawn to stories that explore all the strange, messy, funny, vulnerable, and deeply human parts of who we are.
Over time, that curiosity about people and their stories also led me toward mental health. I earned my M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas A&M University–Kingsville and am now a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate under the supervision of Stephanie Rodenberg-Lewis, LPC-S, RPT-S™, CSC, NCC.
As a therapist, I work with children, adolescents, adults, and families, with particular interests in identity, self-worth, family relationships, trauma, and navigating the experiences that shape how we see ourselves and connect with others. My background in the arts naturally influences my clinical work, and I incorporate approaches such as Play Therapy, Expressive Arts, and Narrative Therapy while continuing my training toward becoming a Registered Play Therapist.
I’m also bilingual in Vietnamese and English, and I care deeply about creating greater access to culturally responsive mental health support for Vietnamese individuals and families.
Whether I’m in front of a camera, on a stage, in the therapy room, or making something with my hands, creativity and storytelling remain at the center of what I do. Both acting and counseling allow me to explore what it means to be human—just from very different sides of the room.
